First things first: You should know that topics included in this blog are just a hobby to me and I am expert to none. I am self-taught on some things and I can be of help sometimes. My intention here is to share and communicate. Isolated bloggers are not trendy anymore so this is less about myself and more about social networking.

I started blogging back in 2005 and I have been posting daily since February 2006 on a personal blog called Barcelona Photoblog. As the name suggests, it deals with photography, travel and my beautiful city, Barcelona.  So after more than a thousand posts, pictures included, the blog  is doing quite well and that encourages me to deal with other issues I am curious about such as  social media and the next web.

Why in English if I live in Barcelona and Spanish is my mother tongue? Well, first of all, because English is widely used and makes it easier to communicate with the rest of the world, specially when it comes to new trends on the web. And last but not least, because I got a degree in English philology in 1988 and Shakespeare’s language has been my passion since I was young.

Besides philology and due to the wild nature of the many jobs, this author has also learned some database programming and can be considered an advanced user, not a geek. The term geek nowadays covers many fields and has been severely abused by some.

At present, I work as a data manager for a company in the pharmaceutical sector. Basically, I design databases and validate data from clinical trials.  But that is a long and tedious story.  During my spare time I am an amateur photographer and a Nikonian. I am happily married and have a beautiful 14-year-old daughter.
